What is a CNC Mill?
A CNC Mill is a computer numerical control mill that removes material with a mill to create your customized design based on the coding from the inital computer design.
What type of mill do we have in the Innovation Center?
In the Innovation Center, we have 2 Tormach PCNC 440 CNC mills.
What are 3 things I learned about the mill?
Three things I learned about the mill was that...
- Higher spindle speeds help with machine timing.
- A chamfer smooths the edges on the part.
- The Tormach PCNC 440 mill is the smallest of the mills.
What software do you set up your project in before you use the mill?
We use Fusion 360 to set up our projects before using the mill.
What does that software do?
Fusion 360 allows you to create any shape, design, or path on a piece of material on the software.
If I could make anything in the mill, what would I make?
Summarizing my Learning:
After learning about the CNC mill, I now know that the CNC mill is a very useful tool that can execute any idea in your mind. Once you design your part on Fusion 360, the CNC mill brings the idea to reality.
